Caterina Szepes

Since her recital debut on RAIS Berlin Radio in 1987, Caterina Szepes, a native of Berlin, has appeared both as a soloist and as chamber musician throughout Eu rope, Australia, South America, and the United States. Her concerto performances include those with Rheinische Kammerphilharmonie Cologne, the Symphony Orchestra of Aue and the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra.

Among her numerous awards are first prize in the Cleveland Institute of Music concerto competition, performing Prokofiev’s second violin concerto, one of the top prizes in the Mendelssohn competition in Berlin, and first prize in the Berlin National Youth Competition. She was awarded two consecutive full scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service from 1991 to 1993.

Ms. Szepes has been invited to participate in various chamber music festivals in the U. S. including the Taos summer music festival and the Marlboro festival in Vermont. She has appeared with the Seacliff Chamber Players, Philomusica and at the Barge in Brooklyn. Recently she gave a series of trio concert performances with pianist Robert McDonald and cellist Julia Lichten.

Ms. Szepes received her training from the German violinist Ulf Hoelscher at the Karlsruhe Hochschule fur Music where she graduated with an Artist Diploma, Summa Cum Laude. She then came to the United States.
